Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from travellers planning a Kenya safari. If yours isn't here, get in touch and we'll reply personally.

Booking

1 How do I book?

Contact us with your travel dates, group size and the parks you’re interested in. We’ll send you a tailored itinerary and an itemised quote.

2 Are you listed on safari booking platforms?

Yes. You can also find us, along with independent guest reviews, on SafariBookings.com, Trips4Africa.com and 2SafariGo.com. You can read what past guests say on our reviews page.

Costs

1 What is included in the price?

Our quotes usually include accommodation, a 4×4 safari vehicle with a professional driver-guide, game drives, park entry fees, airport transfers and drinking water on game drives. International flights, the eTA, travel insurance, tips and optional activities are usually extra. Every quote lists inclusions and exclusions in writing.

2 How much does a Kenya safari cost?

As a rough guide, budget safaris run about USD 150 to 300 per person per day, mid-range USD 300 to 600, and luxury USD 600 or more. Park fees, season and accommodation make the biggest difference. Our Kenya safari cost guide breaks it all down.

On Safari

1 How much should I tip?

A common guideline is USD 10 to 20 per person per day for your driver-guide and USD 5 to 10 per person per day for camp or lodge staff. Tipping is appreciated but always your choice.

2 Can children come on safari?

Yes, families are very welcome. Tell us your children’s ages when you enquire, and we’ll suggest suitable parks, lodges and game drive lengths.

Planning

1 Can you plan a private or custom safari?

Yes. Every trip is built around your dates, budget and interests, whether that’s a family safari, a honeymoon, a photography trip or a birding tour. You can also start from one of our safari packages and adjust it.

2 Do I need a visa to visit Kenya?

Most visitors need an electronic travel authorisation (eTA), applied for online before departure at the official site, etakenya.go.ke. Avoid look-alike websites that charge extra.

3 Which parks and reserves do you cover?

We run safaris to the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo East, Samburu, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Lake Baringo, Meru and Nairobi National Park, and we can combine several parks in one trip.

4 When is the best time to go on safari in Kenya?

The long dry season from June to October is the most popular, especially July to September when the Great Migration is in the Masai Mara. January and February are also dry, with fewer visitors. Our month-by-month guide covers every month in detail.
